"A Fighter for Ohio"

Yesterday, the Jennifer Brunner Committee released an email from Massachusetts U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, urging support for Judge Jennifer Brunner for the Ohio Supreme Court at the November 3, 2020 election. Senator Warren said this:

"This year in Ohio, some of the building blocks of our democracy are on the ballot.

Voting rights, fair maps for redistricting, the rule of law – that’s what’s at stake in the Ohio Supreme Court elections.

And that’s why I’m proud to endorse Judge Jennifer Brunner.

When she served as Ohio’s first and only female Secretary of State, she was nationally recognized for protecting Ohioans’ rights to vote. Jennifer is a passionate fighter for fairness, and with more than ten years of experience as a judge, she has been a consistent force of fairness for all people, even when the going gets very tough.

Now she is running for the Ohio Supreme Court, and we need her there. If you’re in a place to make a donation, will you join me in supporting Judge Jennifer Brunner?

We can count on her to fight for fairness in one of the top issues the Ohio Supreme Court is about to face: partisan gerrymandering.

Partisan gerrymandering is a big problem in Ohio. A federal court ruled that Ohio’s Congressional map was an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander – a map that watered down the people’s interests just to protect partisan power.

And to make it worse, the U.S. Supreme Court has left cleaning up this mess to the states. That means in Ohio, the state’s Supreme Court will be reviewing any new challenges to Ohio’s districts when they’re redrawn after the 2020 census.

That’s why it’s so important to elect justices whose only interest is protecting the rule of law in fairness to everyone. If you can, please join me in supporting Judge Jennifer Brunner to ensure fairness on the Ohio Supreme Court.

Jennifer is a seasoned fighter. The Republicans and their wealthy backers know it and they’re nervous.

Already, shady big money groups are moving in to protect her incumbent opponent who openly advertises herself as “conservative” and whose campaign reports show huge donations from big corporate interests.

Ohio has a chance to do things differently with this election by electing Judge Jennifer Brunner. Whether it’s protecting civil rights, voting rights, or just basic human dignity, Judge Brunner will be a justice for all the people. Sending her to the Supreme Court will be a big win for Ohio.

Judge Brunner thanked Senator Warren for her gracious and significant endorsement. The judge pledged that she will continue to campaign and serve Ohioans, being propelled by her desire to be their public servant, to promote and protect their well-being under the rule of law and to show fairness, equality and respect in fostering basic human dignity. Judge Brunner currently serves as one of eight elected judges on Ohio's Tenth Appellate District Court of Appeals, having defeated a governor's appointee in 2014 for the seat and being reelected in 2016 without opposition.
